Stained Glass Luna by Fetchbeer Stained Glass Luna by Fetchbeer
My fingerprints have been worn away, and I've spent far too many hours staring at glass and solder, coughing as I accidentally get a whiff of fumes from the iron.

But she is finally dones, and I think the time was worth it.

And a little Hot topic Vinyl Derpy for size reference. Finished piece is 10" x 37" tall.

Wow; this turned out excellent, Fetch! The blue of her eyes, mane, and tail is stunning, and the precision with which you created the individual feather panes is impressive.

The feathers took a bit of time. And when I started putting the foil on the edges, about half of them had to go back to the grinder to get some more taken off, but I don't think it would have looked nearly as interesting to make them larger.

Now to just find time to do more glass work >.>

I'm glad you like her! I'm happy with how she turned out, just need to tweak her light fixture.

That's super-neat Fetch! Is that a light fixture behind her? If so, you might want to consider a piece of semi-transparent plastic between it and the glass to diffuse the light a bit so you don't see the bulbs as much.

I already have a sheet of diffuser for fluorescent lights behind the glass, but the main problem is that I had to bend out the brackets that hold the glass, which moved it too close to the fixture itself, so that the light doesn't get to the edges anymore, so I need to remake how it is held to get it farther away again.

It's already hanging on the wall of my living room, opposite where there is room for another of Celestia, that I am too tired to do right now.

Sounds like a good idea.
Starting something without the motivation or energy for it usually is pretty pointless.
Anyways, I'm eagerly awaiting the complete set

Damn Fetch! That is really awesome! How long did it take you to accomplish this?

I think it's about 24 hours of work.

Which makes it about 13-14 minutes per piece.

On a good day I could cut about 10 pieces an hour. So a good 10-12 hours of cutting.

Foiling the edges was only 3-4 hours.

And then I spent a lot of time fussing about with the solder and the frame at the end. Next time I will try harder not to get too much extra on the frame, so that I don't have to get it off again.

I would definitely buy a stained glass piece from you if I could afford it. Or had somewhere to put it. :)

I'd have to find a price point that was worth the time I put into these, and also didn't make people laugh in my face. There is so much work put into these that I don't know if I'd want to sell them really.
